Upon entering SA, Dorene S experienced intense emotional withdrawal and regression, feeling age-appropriate emotions for her childhood. She recognized this as an opportunity for her Higher Power to heal deep-seated childhood trauma that she had previously numbed. With the support of her fellowship, she navigated this uncomfortable but transformative period of emotional growth, finding that intense feelings subsided between her first and second year of sobriety.
